8 violin students from Nagaland to take part in ‘Concert of Friendship’

Eight violin students from the Sunshine Orchestra Nagaland Chapter have been selected for ‘Concert of Friendship’ being organised by Dr AR Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory with the British Council, Chennai as part of the India/UK Together – Season of Culture.

 ‘Concert for Friendship’ will bring together over 100 young musicians and will feature works of classical composers, as well as Scottish melodies, Naga and Tamil folk songs and Carnatic melodies.

Dr Adam Greig – Academic Coordinator KM Music Conservatory in a mail to the Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) stated that, “We are bringing young musicians from Big Noise, Sistema Scotland to join with our musicians from KM and The Sunshine Orchestra for a week (February 25 –March 4) of musical and cultural interactions culminating with an Orchestral Concert at Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall, Chennai on March 4 at March 7:30 PM.”

Mention may be made that the eight violin students selected from Nagaland for the Music Residency and concert are from the Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home.

The Sunshine Orchestra Nagaland Chapter is a music project initiated by Dr AR Rahman and the State Government and under the patronage of the AR Rahman Foundation and TaFMA, Government of Nagaland.
