In his declaration speech, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, NDPP candidate for 10-Northern Angami-1 sought for the support and blessings of the people of his constituency. Even while expressing that he has his own weaknesses and shortcomings, Dr Yhome however assured that he would give his best for the welfare of the people.

An indoor stadium with a capacity of 20,000 or more is being planned for which a space is being sought for in Meriema under a budget of Rs 55 crore. Announcing this during the campaign kick-off programme for Dr Yhome 1 at Kohima Village Ground, CM Neiphiu Rio said such a stadium will be able to host the most popular indigenous sport of Nagaland—Naga Wrestling or any other indoor games. The local ground in Khuochiezie, which has been hosting the sport, he said is not spacious enough to accommodate all its fans besides the lack of parking space right in the heart of the town.

On the other hand, with the Kohima Medical College starting its academic session this year, he highlighted that a request has been made to the Centre to make it a regional institute, for which he is hopeful for a positive result. Given the lack of resources in the state, he said if it is made a regional institute, the cost funding for doctors’ salary, establishment and running cost would come from Delhi.

With the time for the 14th NLA Election, he exuded hope that NDPP would get majority. Stating that there is a need for development in so many areas, he also added, “Whether it is the NDPP candidate here or elsewhere, please vote for them so we can form a strong government and work for the welfare of the Nagas.
