In an effort to bolster policing through the adoption of innovative technology the Commissionerate of Police (CP), Dimapur launched its official ‘ePolice Nagaland’ mobile app, developed in collaboration with Excellogics Tech Solutions Pvt ltd, a local tech firm based in Kohima, at a launch ceremony held at the CP conference hall in Dimapur on February 7.
ePolice Nagaland is a record management system, envisaged to help the police in maintaining digital records related to cases such as non-FIRs, non-bailable warrants, seizures, arms deposited and arrests made. The app is developed exclusively for use by the police to supplement the discharge of their duties and responsibilities.
Rupin Sharma, IPS, Director General of Police (DGP), Nagaland who was invited to launch the app stated that if it runs successfully, it will be further adopted by the entire Nagaland police force. In other aspects, he suggested better management system and providing public interface where people can access certain data from the app and also give their personal inputs in vehicle theft cases and the like.
Tiarenla Jamir, CEO of Excellogics while giving her presentation on ePolice Nagaland revealed that the app was in development for a period of two months by the tech firm. She stated that it was envisaged to help the police in identify criminal trends and hotspots; improve their decision making process and facilitate faster crime investigation method. In case of a natural calamity such as a fire, flooding or earthquake, the app also ensures all the records are safely stored and easily accessible as well.
The features of ePolice Nagaland included specific use by the police, a security system where the user can control who has access to the data, add a report, give a summary report or view a detailed report.
She mentioned that the app is available at the Google Play Store and will be slowly rolled out in Apple app store in the coming days. Currently the data was being stored at the State Data Centre in Kohima. A training session was also organised for the police officials during the event.
