CM Rio files nomination, says alliance will ‘comfortably’ win

Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio filed his nomination from the 11 Northern Angami-II Assembly Constituency at Chiephobozou sub-division ADC on February 6.

 

 

Rio who was first elected to NLA as Congress candidate in 1989 has served as chief minister for four separate terms. He thanked the people of his constituency for their blessings and support.

Taking to twitter, Rio tweeted “filed my nomination papers as a candidate for the 11 Northern Angami-II A/C for the upcoming Nagaland Assembly elections 2023. I thank the people of my constituency for putting their trust in me thus, far, and i humbly seek their blessings and support again.”

Meanwhile speaking at the launching of election campaign at Northern Angami Mechü Ki, Chiephobozou Rio maintained that despite many parties for the election to the 14th NLA, he was hopeful that NDPP-BJP alliance will comfortably form the government again.

Although bringing solution to the Naga political issue has been the primary focus of his government as facilitators, Rio maintained that this couldn’t be achieved due to the fragmentation and disunity among the underground groups.

Nonetheless, he asserted that Naga political issue will be the priority of the next government adding that Nagas have the prospects for progress in all fields when there is peace in the land.

With delimitation exercise and census on the pipeline, Rio stated that his primary objective is to bring justice to all Nagas as and when delimitation exercise takes place.

 

 

 

On the discontentment on ticket distribution, Rio reiterated that the ticket was given based on winnability by the ticket committee whereby in the process many aspirants have been denied ticket and left discontented. To this, he appealed all to forgive and work together with the government. 

Meanwhile, Rio stated that this campaign launching programme could be the first and last for him in his constituency, as according to him he will be touring every part of the state adding that the state as a whole has become his constituency.

Hence, he appealed the party leaders present to go back and disseminate his objectives, programmes and policies and seek blessings and support from the people.

Till the filing of this report, Seyievilie Chachu from Rüsoma village has been awarded the ticket under Congress for 11 Northern Angami-II A/C.
