Tuensang: Poanglum Festival concludes

TUENSANG, JANUARY 16 (MExN): Yaong Sanglee Chang, Regional Transport Officer, Kohima, Nagaland graced the last day event ‘Lum Lin’ of the Poanglum festival at Parade Ground in Tuensang.

Different indigenous games were played during the event. The Chang strongest man award was won by Yemkong Sipong of Waoshu village. In the Tug-of-war (men’s),  Chang Mütli Thangjam came first followed by Chang Union, Post Office Ward. The women’s event was won by Saksi Baptist Church with Yungkük Baptist Church coming second. 
The Traditional fire making event was won by T Meren (Ngangpong village), and Changsomba (Ngangpong village) came second. 

In the traditional rice pounding competition, Y Naong and N Monyu (Phinjang sector) were the winners while Shakshi Lepla and Senti (Bazaar A sector) were the runners up.

The Go Karting event was eon by M Thungti and Thungti (Saksi), while S Changsomba and Sangnai (Sipong sector) came second. 

The Bamboo chicken coop making competition was won by Meren (Chaai Sector), while C Ramchi (Bazaar A sector) was the runners up.

Yangpong (Bukhongshong sector) won the stilt bamboo race while Baso (Old medical sector) was the runners up.
The Greased bamboo pole climbing event was won by Eshou village and Chongshen sector came second.

Earlier, the invocation prayer was pronounced by Bin Chuba, Associate Pastor Youth, Mupung Baptist Church while the welcome address was delivered by N Sipong, Vice President, CKS. Auhim Sem band from Tuensang village also performed an original song.

In the valedictory service, the vote of thanks was delivered by H Zungkum, Vice President, CKS after the beauty queens of Miss Chang lit up the bonfire.  This was followed by a concert featuring Moko Koza and David Konyak. Meanwhile Akhong also performed two songs and a stand up comedy routine was presented by Hongsa from Saksi.
