Nagaland Hr Edu Dept confers Meritorious Award 2022

The Department of Higher Education, Nagaland, today conferred Departmental Meritorious Service Award 2022 to the employees (both teaching faculty and non teaching staff) serving under the Directorate of Higher Education who are exceptionally good in their profession.

Nagaland Higher Education and Tribal Affairs Minister, Temjen Imna Along and Higher Education Director, Dr Katoni Jakhalu handed over award to the teaching faculty and non teaching staff respectively during the annual conference of the Government College Principals in Kohima on November 18.

The award carries a citation and a cash award of Rs 30,000 each for teaching faculty and Rs 20,000 each for non teaching staff.

This award is awarded to a maximum number of five teachers and five non teaching staff from Government Colleges and one from Directorate of Higher Education once in three years time.

The award was initiated to acknowledge the exceptional services rendered by the employees and to motivate the employees to improve their performances, said Menuokholie, joint director (A).

Menuokholie thanked the minister for providing fund under GIA for the awards.

Earlier, Higher Education Director Dr Katoni Jakhalu in her address at the inaugural session, said that the variables of academics, curriculum, science & technology, research, physical infrastructure, connectivity or even communications are tangible and can be addressed with proper planning & funding.

She said that higher education is not about only scoring high academic grades & certificates. She stressed on the need to focus on National Education Policy 2020, which has a student centric approach and “we should build on it.”

Further, the director urged upon the college principals to continue to strive selflessly and build or create an environment for the campuses or community to be rooted in social and moral responsibility. … “for this is the greatest legacy we can bequeath to the generations to come.”

The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. Lily Sema, additional director higher education while vote of thanks was proposed by Nokyanla, joint director (P&B).

The conference was followed by orientation on API Scores under CAS & APAR and interaction on role and responsibilities of HoD & DDO.
