Continuing its demand for regularisation of service, staff nurses under the banner of the Department Recruited Aggrieved Nurses’ (DRAN) 2021, maintained their sit-in protest for a second day on November 10 at the New Secretariat junction.
It was informed that today’s meeting called by the officials of the Department of Health & Family Welfare ended inconclusive.
While requesting the DRAN to call off their sit-in protest, department officials were said to have proposed the agitating members to sit for the NPSC exam, with consideration of marks.
This proposal was rejected by DRAN as informed to The Morung Express. A member of the DRAN said “we only want the authority to honour the two Cabinet decisions.” “There is no reason for us to sit for the NPSC exam, and we are not the only ones who went for COVID duties. Every personnel under medical department has been in COVID duty” he argued.
“This is a plot to brainwash the public as though a ‘special treatment’ is being accorded to us. But we are not asking or demanding or want any kind of special treatment,” he asserted.
As the meeting ended inconclusive, DRAN will continue its sit-in protest till their “legitimate rights” are fulfilled.
Mention may be made that despite the standing notification that “50% of the posts of staff nurse shall be filled through queue system and the remaining through direct recruitment,” the government has sent the posts to NPSC overriding the July 5, 2020 basic guidelines for recruitment, service and conditions.
