These included the cities of Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. He mentioned that most of these individuals were working in the unorganised or informal sector with little to no job security.

Speaking at the official launch of Helping Hands, Nagaland which took place at Livingstone Foundation International on October 23, the official further disclosed that crimes related to individuals belonging to Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram etc., were occurring on a daily basis.

“There are many heart breaking stories and incidents such as these are increasing,” he said. He warned that, most people in mainland cities will look you for exploitation. Besides stating, females working in low-paying jobs or the hospitality sector were among the most vulnerable.

“Every month we get 20-30 girls who were HIV positive,” he revealed. These were from unsolicited relationships, honey-traps or even sex-work.

“Many people do not like to hear this until and unless it happens to you or to your family member,” he maintained.

Moreover, Hibu noted the rise in cybercrime related offences targeting folks living in Nagaland and other NE states as a worrying trend.
