DC Tuensang cautions against ill of excessive mobile phone use

The District Hospital, Tuensang observed World Mental Health Day with Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang as the special guest along with tribal leaders, student bodies and ward leaders of Tuensang town at Conference Hall, District Hospital, Tuensang on October 10.

Along with the celebration of the day, District Hospital, Tuensang also inaugurated its Dialysis Centre.

The DC Tuensang expressed that the mental health in this time is the “least understood, least discussed and least researched.” He stated that at this present time “mobile phone” is an “ill of the society”. He expressed that, “people collect unnecessary data from it and it affects the mental health. People have become more reactive these days and have made us so expressive and we keep on expressing everything on social media.”

“At this fast-changing time, suicidal tendencies have increased among youths more than older people and it is an actual problem. Older people are away from the technology and information influx and the occurrence among have lesser chances,” he added. The DC said that such topic should be kept open and discussed without any stigma then only this can be tackled.

The programme was chaired by Yangkhumla, Clinical Psychologist, District Hospital, Tuensang, opening prayer was pronounced by Avini, Chaplain, DH, Tuensang, welcome address was delivered by Dr AdemlaTinu, Medical Superintendent, DH, Tuensang meanwhile, the keynote address on dialysis was given by Dr ThungchanbemoEzung, Senior Medical Officer.

ANM student nurses from School of ANM, Tuensang presented a song, while Yemlong Chaba, Panel Lawyer, Tuensang District Legal Service Authority spoke on the theme, ‘Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority.’ Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Senilo Magh, Medical Officer, DH, Tuensang.
