The All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG-2015) indefinite hunger strike entered the sixth day on October 6. The agitation, demanding service regularisation began as a sit-in protest on September 26, before upping the ante, four days later, in the face of perceived unconcern from the state government to the demand of the agitating teachers.

The general members of the ANATG had rejected an agreement signed between state government officials and ANATG representatives on September 29 for setting up a High Powered Committee (HPC). It subsequently wrote to the Chief Minister on October 3 rejecting the HPC and reaffirming its demand for immediate service regularisation, while seeking the CM’s intervention.

ANATG Spokesperson, Bendang Ozukum maintained that the hunger strike will continue till the demand is fulfilled. He further informed that one member was hospitalised today, taking the number of agitators, who have required medical attention to eight. The agitators have been on the hunger strike from a makeshift camp at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat junction.
