Dimapur, September 22 (MExN): The Tuensang, Shamator, and Noklak District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting was held at DC’s Conference Hall Tuensang on September 21. The special guest of the meeting was S Phangnon Konyak, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Tuensang and Member Secretary DISHA Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant.

A DIPR report stated that Phangnon asked the heads of the departments in the districts to be proactive since they are the implementing heads and added that commitment and hard work are necessary elements to achieve goals and targets. “The central government is coming up with lots of centrally sponsored schemes but these schemes need to reach the targeted and most deserved section of the people,” she added.

She also encouraged the members with the comparison of Nagaland as a state to its neighboring states- highlighting some areas where they are lacking behind their neighbors and the pace of development of other neighboring states to that of Nagaland. She also mentioned the changing pattern of funding where now state governments are asked to cover 10% of the project shared after which only the central government will release its 90% share within 21 days.

In the meeting Agriculture, Welfare, Medical, PWD (R&B), PHED, and Water Resources departments gave Powerpoint presentations on department details and a special focus on specially sponsored schemes.
