Bhandari, September 14 (MExN): The Secretary General Naga People’s Front (NPF), Achumbemo Kikon has said that he intend to contest the next election as he cannot ‘abandon the people.’
“I have not been successful for three terms but as a true leader I cannot abandon my people and I have been and will always stay strong and stand up for my people of 40 Bhandhari AC,” Kikon reportedly told ‘thanksgiving’ programmes organised by his supporters in Akuk and Mekokla on September 10.
According to a press release from the Media Cell, NPF 40 AC Bhandhari, he further expressed his desire to make the AC a “developed constituency by utilising the funds judiciously for development in all aspects.”
Kikon further noted that he would work with all his capabilities to achieve the dream of his people if he gets elected, it said.
As a leader he said that he wants to write a good history by leaving a good legacy through his deeds and not by words, it added.
In Akuk village, Jerry Patton, a prominent leader from the area claimed that most of the people from village were in favour of Kikon, the release said.
He also stated that the living standard of the villagers are at deplorable condition, and for the upliftment of the people right leader is a priority, it added.
Other leaders from both Akuk and Mekokla Village gave a short speeches advising and encouraging the people to stand strong and united for all round development.
In a separate meeting with youths from Mekokla, Kikon also informed the gathering that he is contesting for the upliftment of the youths, who are the future of tomorrow’s society, the release said. The youth leaders also assured support to his leadership, it maintained.
