Pass percentage increases from 29.34% in 2018 to 56.57% in 2022

In a positive note, the pass percentage of students appearing from Nagaland for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for the undergraduate medical courses has nearly doubled in the last four years.
In 2022, out of 2392 appearing for the test from the State, a total of 1304 cleared the exam, indicating a qualification rate of 54.51%. This is an increase from pass percentage of 40.49% in 2021 with 1805 appearing for the test, and 731 coming out successful. Official data from the NTA informed during the last five years the pass percentages have been consistently improving.
In 2018, the pass percentage from Nagaland was 29.34%, which increased to 34.52% in 2019. The clearance rates have further rise to 40.50% in 2020. While the 2021 result was more or less the same in 2021, it surged to 56.27% in 2022. However, Nagaland pass percentage was still lower than the All-India average of 56.27% in 2022, with 1764571 candidates appearing for the exam and 993069 qualifying.
As per the Indian Express, in 2022, the pass percentage (number of candidates who qualified with respect to those who applied) of 21 states and UTs was below the national average of 56.27%.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), since has been mandated to conduct the NEET since 2019, for admission to the undergraduate medical courses in all medical institutions including those governed under any other law.
In Nagaland candidates appeared for the exam on July 17 in three locations: Kohima, Dimapur and Kiphire. As per an NTA release, a total of 1872343candidates registered for the exam at 3570 different Centres located in 497 Cities throughout the country including 14 Citiesoutside India. Out of this 1764571 appeared.
