Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): The Dialysis Centre at Dimapur District Hospital was inaugurated by Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman on August 24.
Presently, the dialysis unit of District Hospital has four functional dialysis machines. “Considering the increasing incidence of chronic renal failures, the hospital is unable to meet the demands for dialysis services. As a result patients are compelled to seek treatment elsewhere leading to undue physical, mental and financial burden considering the requirement of dialysis every few days,” stated a brief note on the centre.
It stated that in the midst of acute shortage of dialysis facilities, The Boeing India came forward to sponsor setting up of upgraded Dialysis Centre at District Hospital, Dimapur as a CSR initiative of the Company to bridge a gap in healthcare access to basic live-saving services not only for the population of Dimapur but also to the needy patients from across the State of Nagaland as well as from the adjoining areas of Assam.
Further, the Department of Health & family Welfare (DoHFW), Nagaland and Doctors For You- a Delhi based NGO, has signed a memorandum of Association for strengthening of public health system in the state through CSR Funding. The Memorandum of Association is the umbrella covering activities that Doctors For You is willing to undertake in the next ten years, it stated.
This Dialysis Centre with a capacity of upto 60 sessions per day is established under the aegis of the Government of Nagaland, with financial support from The Boeing India, and implemented by Doctors For You in collaboration with Department of Health & family Welfare, Nagaland and IDAN. The Dialysis Centre will be managed jointly by the Hospital Management Society of District Hospital, Dimapur and Doctors For You initially for a period of ten years.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy CM, Y Patton, and a host of ministers and legislators attended the inauguration programme.
