Naga Political Issue: ‘Have a collective logical conclusion,’ says Dr Chumben

Wokha, June 25 (MExN): Nagaland MLA & Advisor Law & Justice and Chairman DPDB, Wokha Dr Chumben Murry on Friday referred to the Naga political issue as “the longest insurgency in the world which one needed to recognize.”

Calling upon all the political organizations to come and work together, Dr Chumben expressed the desired to “have a collective logical conclusion without depriving and creating differences with the political groups and the Indian government,” stated a press release received here.

‘The solemn solution shall be pressed upon the GoI by all sections of society for the wellbeing of Naga people,’ he asserted while speaking at the 10th general conference of Wokha District Village Council Chairman Association (WDVCCA) at Tiyi Hall, Wokha Town on June 23.

Speaking on the Article 371 (A), Dr Chumben appreciated the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio for compiling the customary law which is now yet to be recognized by the government of India. He added that ‘later when it is recognized, the Nagas will have its convention authority as statutory board, as Nagas customary law and Indian judiciary is in a crisscross situation where Naga could not identify their rights in the present situation.’ He called the people to support the State government in bringing out the customary laws that help to identify the culture and practices.

Addressing the gathering, he said that ‘village chairman are leaders of the grassroots level.’ He urged them to adopt with the fast changing advance society since world had become a global village, through advancement of technology and usage of smart mobile phone,

Calling upon the leaders to set an example through cleanliness and proper waste management in their localities and in township settlement, he stated that proper disposal and hygienic environment attribute to social progress as it is the prime source of civic sense.

Lotha Hoho, Chairman, Er Mhondamo Ovung and Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Wokha also spoke during the event. Invocation was said by Father Ntonse John Lotha, Priest in-charge St Peter Church Longsa, presidential note by Vandan E/rui and vote of thanks by Benathung Odyuo, General Secretary, WDVCCA.
