Dorians Society to organise inter- school spelling bee competition

In commemoration of 25 years (silver jubilee) of existence, Dorians Society, Dimapur will be organising their first inter-school spelling bee competition on June 25 (rescheduled from June 11), at the DBIdl building, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur.

This was stated by members of the society during a press conference held at Ao Khel, Notun Bosti, Dimapur on May 18. The competition is open to schools within the jurisdiction of Dimapur district and also the newly created districts of Chüomükedima and Niuland as well.

Naro Pongen, member of the organising committee informed that the competition will be for Grades 7-9, both government and private schools. While schools authorities are requested to choose two students from any of the aforementioned grades for the competition. She also requested the school authorities to send one coordinator or teacher along with the students.

The registration fee will be Rs 200 per student; however government school students are exempted.

Moreover, it was informed that the participants are requested to reach the venue by 9:00 am.

The last date of submission for the names of the participants will be May 31.

As for the prize money, the society revealed that the first position will receive a cash prize of Rs 5000, while second and third positions will receive Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 respectively. All the participants will also receive certificates as well.

Originally the competition was to be held on June 11, but due to the NBSE mid-term exams scheduled to be held between June 8 to 18, the society decided to reschedule it to June 25.

Dorians Society was first formed in 1997 under the initiative of young enthusiasts willing to see transformation take place within their society. The society primarily focused on sports programmes in their initial stages but has branched out their initiatives to other social activities as well.
