Dimapur, May 18 (MExN): The NSCN-K (Niki Group) held a coordination meeting with a delegation of Dimapur-based Southern Naga civil society organisations (CSOs) on May 16. The CSOs comprised of the Southern Naga Union, Poumai Hoho, Tangkhul Naga Long, Mao Naga Union, Maram Naga Union, Lamkang Naga Union, Maring Naga Union, Moyon Naga Union, Thangal Naga Union and Anal Naga Union in the office of Ato Kilonser, NSCN-K (Niki Group).
As per a press release issued by the MIP, NSCN-K (Niki Group), during the meeting, Gen (Retd) Niki Sumi, President, NSCN/GPRN stated that there must be unity among all the Naga people to achieve any goal.
He made a clarion call to the Naga tribal leaders to be more committed and active to unite all Naga political groups and the people at large ‘as no solution is likely to be achieved unless Naga people irrespective of boundary demarcation are united to for one common goal,’ it said.
Gen Niki further maintained that it is the Naga tribal leaders who can work and bring the Naga people together in unity, which would further give more weight age to the Naga people’s voice to the Government of India for solution to Naga political struggle, it added.
He further reaffirmed stance on peace and unity among all the sections of Naga society and reminded the tribal leaders that the NSCN-K (Niki Group) stood for “unity first and solution second,” the release added.
Also addressing the meet, Ato Kilonser, Starson Lamkang said that the Naga people must do away with ego and work together in the interest of the people and called upon the gathered leaders to be ambassadors of peace and unity, the release said.
Representatives of Southern Nagas also underscored that ‘Nagas have fought together for the rights of Naga people and therefore, must resolve the differences and remain united to achieve the dreams and aspirations of the Naga people, it informed.
The tribal leaders denounced all sorts of violence which is against the peace and wellbeing of the people and stated that ‘lack of sincerity and commitment of the leaders and difference of ideas among the leaders will confuse the people and will be a setback for the Nagas at large,’ it added,
