Nagaland University observes ‘International Mother Language Day’

Nagaland University Hindi cell in collaboration with Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lumami observed International Mother Language Day on February 21, in the conference hall, KV, NU.

A press release from NU informed that during the programme, Director, IQAC, professor Mithilesh Kumar Sinha in his special address pointed out that the development of mother tongue was happening continuously.
He emphasised on the promotion of mother tongue while respecting all languages and added that the future of all languages was bright and none were “threatened by any other language.”

Citing the importance of mother tongue, guest of honour, CoE, Dr. Maongsangba spoke of the need for the development of local languages of Nagaland.

Meanwhile, chief guest of the programme, vice-chancellor in-charge, professor B. Kilangla Jamir emphasised on the importance of mother tongue and shared her personal experiences with regard to mother language day programmes in the university.

Earlier, KV student Vaishnavi Sharma and KV teacher Priya Sharma compered the programme, welcome address was delivered by KV principal Shailendra Sharma, Saraswati Vandana was sung by students of KV led by music teacher Rudresh while vote of thanks was proposed by department of EVS, assistant professor, Dr. Latonglila Jamir.

Later, prizes were presented to winners of various competitions.
The programme was attended by faculty members, administrative staff members, students and parents.
