No child should be deprived of education: Sukhalu

Advisor for School Education, K.T. Sukhalu inaugurated the upgraded Government High School to Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Sungro under Wokha district on Saturday.

According to a DIPR report, addressing the inaugural function, Sukhalu said that it was the desire of the state government to ensure that the young generation was not deprived of education.

The advisor said that Sungro High School was upgraded based on its performance which fulfilled the criteria of good enrolments and good results.

He acknowledged the teachers and faculty members for their dedication, and the people of the area for their support in spite of challenges in the initial stage.

While speaking on some schools being downgraded in the state, the advisor said that it was “heartbreaking” and that the department has no other option but to downgrade when performance of enrolment in a school was bad and the results were very poor.

In this regard, he reiterated that the prerogative of the state government and the education department was to impart quality education and the school institutions in the state become centre of excellence.

To achieve the target is not the responsibility of the department alone but it is equally important for the people of the state to extend full cooperation, Sukhalu stated.

He urged upon the people of the state to take keen interest in ensuring that the school was run properly involving all stakeholders of the state.

Sukhalu also urged upon the people of Sungro area to take responsibility in maintaining the standard and to ensure that it was run properly.
He also conveyed best wishes to the people of Sungro range from the chief minister.

Advisor also disclosed that the newly upgraded GHSS Sungro would get its building completed by this year.

Guest of honour, advisor for Horticulture & Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan acknowledged the chief minister for delivering the much-awaited dream.

He stated that Sungro range deserved to have a GHSS as it had remarkably achieved 61 years of existence and constantly had good number of student enrolment with decent pass percentage.

Mhathung stated that it was a proud moment for 39 Sanis assembly constituency to get its first higher secondary school.

He appealed for constant support from his people in order to bring more such developments in his assembly constituency.

The advisor highlighted the significance of the area and stated that despite having big potential to boost economy, his constituency remained underdeveloped.

He said that more works were needed to be taken up and urged upon the people of his area to extend more support and cooperation to bring the aspiration into reality.

Mhathung urged upon the village education committee and village councils to support the school to bring notable results.

He said Sungro GHSS would now become a centre of learning in the area.
During the programme, advisors Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire and Imnatiba, and deputy commissioner (DC), Wokha, Orenthung Lotha also delivered short speeches. The inauguration of the newly upgraded GHSS, Sungro was also attended by Kazheto Kenimi, Medo Yhokha, Y.M. Humtsoe, NCS (Retd) and others.

Earlier dedication prayer for the foundation stone was said by Okotso Baptist Church pastor, Rev. O. Yibomo Ngullie.
