India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning over North East region on February 4 & 5, 2022.
In its bulletin, the met department stated that isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall was likely over Arunachal Pradesh and heavy rainfall over west Assam & Meghalaya on February 4, 2022.
It also stated that under the influence of a fresh Western Disturbance, isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall was very likely over Western Himalayan Region on February 6 & 7, 2022.
IMD stated that Western Disturbance and its induced Cyclonic Circulation/Low was very likely to move eastnortheastwards during subsequent two days, as a result there would be high moisture feeding from Bay of Bengal to East & adjoining North East India on February 3 & 4, 2022 due to confluence between westerlies and southeasterlies from the Bay of Bengal at lower tropospheric levels.
Further, IMD stated that rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C was very likely over most parts of East India during next three days and fall by 2-3°C thereafter.
Meanwhile, people across Nagaland continue to experience freezing temperatures as several parts of the state have witnessed snowfall in the past few days.
