Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, JAN 15 (NPN) : Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland and minister in charge of Home and PWD (Road and Bridges), Y. Patton inaugurated the welcome gate of Notun Bosti colony here Friday, at Notun Bosti junction, Tajen Ao road, Dimapur.
Speaking at the programme as the special guest, Patton remarked the day as “Red Letter Day”. He mentioned that the welcome gate for Notun Bosti has been a long felt need and dream for many, especially for residents of Notun Bosti, Dimapur adding that Notun Bosti is one among oldest residential area established under Dimapur during early 1960s and has now become one of the biggest colonies.
Deputy chief minister appreciated the sense of belongingness and common brotherhood in all spheres of life ushered upon by the residents of Notun Bosti since its inception and their positive contributions towards shaping of the present day Dimapur which was immense and laudable.
Patton added that in the past, Notun Bosti has earned many distinctions in the field of administration as well as cleanliness.
These feats could be achieved only by unity, cooperation and oneness amongst the residents and urged the gathering to continue their good works, he added.
Patton asserted that being ideally located with well populated colony also comes with corresponding responsibilities which the council and its residents have to shoulder within and outside its jurisdiction and act as a as a watchdog over sporadic anti-social activities and assist the district administration in maintaining overall peaceful atmosphere in Dimapur.
On the occasion, Patton also urged the Notun Bosti council to pursue their demand to established health sub centre at Notun Bosti, while assuring to look into their demand.
Delivering the welcome addressed, chairman of Notun Bosti council Dimapur, Imkongukshi Imchen said that Ao, Lotha, Angami, Zeliang and Sumi tribe came together and established Notun Bosti which comprises of five khels. Notun Bosti has multi tribes of Nagas and non-Nagas residing under one umbrella with a population of 8100 and household of 2700 while Notun Bosti consist of six GBs, five khel chairman and has five advisors. He pointed out the day as a special occasion for the Notun Bosti as the welcome gate was able to build after 58 years and was completed after 8 months through hard work and determination.
While, convenor of welcome gate construction committee, GB Kikhevi Yepthomi informed that in the month of January 5, 2021, council members had passed a resolution to build the welcome gate.
He also made a mention that the welcome gate has been built in such a way that they can also create a source of income by means of providing space for commercial advertisement and informed the cost of the gate construction cost more than 10 lakhs.
