DIMAPUR, Nov 9: Lierie Baptist Nhicuko Krotho (LBNK) observed “World Sunday School Day” which also marked its 25th anniversary at Lierie Baptist Church Kohima on November 8.
In a press release, LBNK informed that speaking on the occasion, assistant pastor of Lierie Baptist Church, Atho Sothu reminded about how Robert Raikes started the Sunday School first in the 1780s.
He also narrated how Lierie Baptist Nhicuko Krotho had been persevered and grew over the years. He stressed on the importance of spiritual feeding ingrained at young age and the need to provide and nurture them according to their age.
During the celebration, special numbers were presented by children from the primary, intermediate and junior categories.
Action songs were performed by beginners and toddlers; musical play by New Teens and Bible recitation (Psalms 23) from the junior division.
Earlier, Avono Sakhrie, superintendent of Lierie Baptist Nhicuko Krotho led the programme while Thejaseto Terhüja was cantor and Keneisenuo Kuotsu, pianist.
Deaconess Apele Savino invoked God’s blessings; Annie Naleo read from the scripture while a prayer for the children was said by Lierie Baptist Church pastor, Neichüriazo Chücha.
It may be mentioned that on June 30, 1996, four teachers and 10 students gathered for the first Sunday school class in a residence at Lerie colony.
Lierie Baptist Nhicuko Krotho informed it has been blessed with around 300 Sunday school students and 15 teachers assigned to six classes currently.
