DIMAPUR , October 19: Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Nagaland conducted an online training on “production technology of seasonal flowers and floriculture enterprise for income generation” on October 18 with the objective to provide technical guidance, important aspects of floriculture sector and to create awareness on potential avenues for startups.
In a press release, CIH informed that during the training programme, additional commissioner (Hort.) & director in charge CIH, Dr. N. K. Patle during his brief remark emphasised on the importance and potential of floriculture for sustainable income.
He also encouraged the participants to take up scientific production of these crops for maximum return and stressed on several important points such as prospects in undertaking floriculture nurseries for quality planting material production, use of organic inputs, bio pesticides & fungicides, etc.
Technical experts of the institute delivered the virtual training on various aspects on production technology of flowers and ornamental plants such as management of pest and disease, drying for value addition and home scale floriculture startups for income generation.
Altogether, 40 participants including ex-trainees, young entrepreneurs, unemployed youths and young aspirants from various districts actively participated and interacted with subject expert.
