Former State BJP president Visasolie passes away

DIMAPUR, OCT 13 (NPN) : Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency chairman and former State BJP president, Visasolie Lhoungu passed away in Kohima on Tuesday after a brief illness. He was 70 and survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters and four grandchildren.

According to family sources, the funeral will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Eralibill Dimapur.

Born in 1951, from Dihoma village, Lhoungu hails retired as the chief executive officer of National Rural Livelihoods Mission and joint director under Rural Development department in 2014. After his retirement, Lhoungu joined active politics and became the State BJP unit president in 2016.

PM, CM and others condole
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chief minister Neiphiu Rio and national BJP president JP Nadda led in condoling the demise of chairman Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency and former State BJP president, Visasolie Lhoungu.
PM: Prime Minister Modi took to his Twitter to send condolences to the family. He described late Visasolie Lhoungu as a hardworking and dedicated person who was passionate about the progress of Nagaland and empowerment of the Naga people. “He made noteworthy efforts to strengthen the BJP in the state. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family and supporters. RIP.” Moid tweeted.
Rio: Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio expressed deep pain to hear about the demise of Visasolie Lhoungu.
Rio said Lhoungu served the state government before joining state politics. He was a hardworking, sincere and diligent officer and apart from his professional career, Visasolie was also someone who had sincere concerns for the welfare of the marginalised section of the society, Rio said.
As a person personally known to him, Rio said Lhoungu was a cheerful, friendly and helpful person, who had a big heart and a delightful personality.
“The Naga society as a whole has lost a leader and a mentor. The vacuum created by his demise will be difficult to fill. However, let us cherish the wonderful memories he has left behind,” Rio said.
Rio, joined by his family, conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that Almighty God grant them comfort and strength to bear the irreparable loss.

Nadda: BJP president JP Nadda also took to twitter and expressed pained to hear about the demise of the former State BJP president Visasolie Lhoungu.
“He played an important role in strengthening the party in Nagaland. My condolences to his family and supporters in this time of grief. Om Shanti.” Nadda tweeted

Patton: Deputy chief minister Y. Patton also condoled the death of Visasolie Lhoungu.
Patton said that late Lhoungu took over as the State BJP president when the party was struggling to make its mark in state politics. His contributions towards the upliftment of the party and also towards the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency will be remembered by the people, Patton said and mourned that the state has lost a good leader.
On behalf of the state BJP legislators, Patton conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that God will comfort them during the time of sorrow.

TR Zeliang: NPF legislature party leader, T.R. Zeliang also conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family. In a tweet, Zeliang said Lhoungu was a capable and hardworking leader. “His untimely demise leaves behind a huge vacuum. May the departed rest in eternal peace,” he said.

BJP national VP: BJP national vice president M Chuba Ao has expressed grief over the passing of Visasolie Lhoungu and said that his demise was a great loss for the party and the state of Nagaland.
In a condolence message, M Chuba Ao said described late Lhoungu as a very humble man and a person of great vision, who dedicated and sacrificed important part of his life for the party.
BJP national vice president said that it was during Lhoungu’s tenure as state BJP president in 2018 general election, party won 12 seats. M Chuba said Lhoungu has left behind a solid foundation for others to build upon.
BJP national vice president extended his thoughts and prayers to the bereaved family and prayed that the departed soul rest in peace.

BJP state unit: Expressing deep sadness over the demise of Visasolie Lhoungu, the BJP Nagaland state unit said that his passing was a great loss to party, adding that his immense sacrifices rendered towards the uplift of the party would ever be remembered for posterity.
In a condolence message, BJP Nagaland state unit president Temjen Imna Along said late Lhoungu was instrumental in manoeuvring the BJP Nagaland with much zeal and patience, adding that his contributions in strengthening the BJP was remarkable.
Describing him as a man of few words, BJP state president said late Lhoungu was, however, a leader whose principle and integrity were unquestionable. He was a refined statesman and a tall political figure in the State, Along said.
On behalf of the party rank and file, Along conveyed deepest condolences to the near and dear ones of late Visasolie Lhoungu and prayed for divine solace and comfort to the bereaved family members.

NDPP: Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has expressed shock over the demise of Visasolie Lhoungu and said that in his passing, the Nagas have lost a capable leader whose “concern for the common people was foremost and most admirable.”
In a condolence message to Mrs. Neivonuo Lianmoi Lhoungu, NDPP president Chingwang Konyak said he found late Lhoungu to be soft-spoken, but very persuasive when it came to the welfare of the general public. NDPP president described late leader as “a thorough gentleman” who never lost his cool and was a level-headed leader.
Chingwang Konyak said late Lhoungu never had any ulterior motives while discharging his duties and spoke out his mind openly without any hesitation when the need arose.
NDPP president along with the party rank and file mourned the demise of the leader and conveyed heartfelt condolences to bereaved family members. The party also prayed that the Almighty grant them solace and comfort during this hour of grief.
