CABINET TO DECIDE ON CREATION OF NEW POSTS: PATTON

Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, OCT 12 (NPN): Against the backdrop of opposition from Dimapur-based civil society organisations (CSOs) to the proposed shifting of the deputy commissioner’s office Dimapur from its present location to the new complex at Chümoukedima, the state government on Monday decided to revoke the September 7, 2021 order.

In a notification issued by the Home department on October 11, principal secretary home Abhijit Sinha stated that the September 7, 2021 order “stand revoked with immediate effect”. Sinha further said that this was also in supersession of October 6, 2021 letter.

In this regard, Sinha has directed DC Dimapur to take necessary action accordingly. Soon after the notification issued, ADC Dimapur Atokhe Aye forwarded the same to the convener of the ‘CSOs core committee against shifting of DC office’. The order was issued following a meeting held between deputy chief minister Y. Patton and a delegation of the CSOs core committee here at Police House, Chümoukedima on Monday morning. The meeting was also attended by four legislators of Dimapur district– Tovihoto Ayemi, Moatoshi Longkumer, Azheto Zhimomi and Zhaleo Rio and senior officials including principal secretary home, Abhijit Sinha.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Patton said that both sides had fruitful discussions, where it was conveyed to the CSOs that September 7 notification would be revoked.

He clarified that the decision to shift the DC’s office had been kept on hold and that there was no such order issued regarding shifting of the office. “There is no such order for shifting of DC office from Dimapur to Chümoukedima,” he said.

Patton also informed that a cabinet decision would be taken regarding creation of ADC, EAC and sub-treasury offices at the new DC office complex at Chümoukedima.

On the ultimatum submitted by DDCF to the State government demanding removal of the tag “HQ: Chümoukedima; Camp: Dimapur”, Patton clarified that there was no such order and maintained that Dimapur was the headquarters.

Patton, who is also the minister in-charge of home, said that the department had not come across any such order. He assured to check the matter and discuss in the cabinet and get back to CSOs on this. Principal secretary, home, Abhijit Sinha, who too was present at the meeting, said the ultimatum submitted by DDCF was discussed in detailed and it was decided to cancel the September 7 notification.

He also clarified that there was no order for shifting of DC office to the new DC office complex at Chümoukedima.

On the issue of the tag– “HQ: Chümoukedima”, he also assured that the home department would check if there was any such order issued.

Meanwhile, CSO core committee spokesperson Bendang said the committee was satisfied with the meeting, adding that the State government had addressed all their demands.

“The government has already addressed the core issue and we are satisfied,” he remarked.

“As soon as we receive the cancellation order of September 7, we will revoke our agitation,” he added.
