‘Centre committed to create jobs’

Correspondent Kohima, SEP 18 (NPN) : Union minister of state (MoS) for electronics and information technology, skill developments and entrepreneurship, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said centre was committed to creating jobs for the youth.


Addressing a press conference at the state BJP head office, here, on Friday, Chandrasekhar said now was an opportune time for the youth to start their own businesses in this post-covid world. He said he came to Nagaland to motivate the youth to avail the opportunity that were being presented by centre in the form of various programmes.


The MoS added that the newly inaugurated STPI in Kohima and NIELIT in Mokokchung were important as they were the core in PM Modi’s visions of bringing technology and technological opportunities to the youth in the North East.


He said while networks of NIELIT that were being created in the region would impart training and skills to the youth, on the other hand the newly inaugurated STPI would provide opportunities for entrepreneurs and youth in the information technology businesses.


Chandrasekhar disclosed that 5 lakh jobs were created in the IT sector this year alone and that 3 lakh new jobs would be created in electronics and manufacturing.


He further said since internet connectivity was the raw material for working from home, he would explore every possibility to improve the network by increasing the bandwidth. He was certain that this would improve the internet quality.


Answering to a query on his observation of youth in the state now and his previous visits, Chadrasekhar said youth now were not looking for jobs alone but were building companies and businesses.


Earlier a programme was held at the same venue to celebrate the 71st Birthday of PM Narendra Modi.


In a short speech, Chandrasekhar said throughout the PM’s political career, his philosophy had remained the same which was, “saab ke sath, saab ke vikas”.


He added that Modi had set new standards of governance which had bridged the gap between the government and the public. He also claimed that BJP was the fairest political party in the world.


Encouraging the State BJP workers, Chadrasekhar said the best times for the party was still ahead while the most challenging times were in the past.
