Correspondent KOHIMA, AUG 13 (NPN) : Taking serious note of the anomalies pointed out in Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report that was tabled on the floor of the house during the recently-concluded eighth session of 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), Nagaland Governor RN Ravi on Friday has asked chief minister Neiphiu Rio to initiate appropriate action against those involved in excess/fraudulent drawals.
Sources confirmed to Nagaland Post that this was conveyed by the Governor at a meeting he convened with the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues, at Raj Bhavan Friday.
At the meeting, it was informed that the Governor expressed displeasure over excess/fraudulent withdrawal as revealed by the CAG report. The Governor therefore advised the chief minister to initiate appropriate action against all officials involved.
At the meeting, it was also disclosed that the Governor insisted on introduction of online system in the treasury offices in order to keep proper track of cash withdrawals and to avoid fraudulent drawals in future.
According to sources, the Governor had also suggested that the state government implement Personal Information Management System (PIMS) towards transparency.
It was also learnt that the Governor had expressed concern over number of licensed guns permitted to individuals.
On this, the Governor emphasised that gun licenses should be properly monitored as per the Unique Identification Number (UIN) and to ensure that no individual was permitted to possess guns over the limit. The Governor also reportedly pointed out that those issuing gun licenses should be made accountable and proper registry maintained.
While lauding the overall law and order situation in the State, sources said that the Governor was however sceptical about rampant extortion and taxation activities taking place in the state.
It may be mentioned that the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India in its report on General, Economic and Revenue sectors for the year ended March 31, 2019, which was presented during the 8th session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, detected financial anomalies in various departments like– excess/fraudulent drawals, double drawal of pay and allowances including arrears etc.
