Correspondent Kohima, AUG 13 (NPN) : A book on evaluation methodology and guidelines was launched by advisor, fisheries & aquatic resources, economics & statistics and evaluation, L Khumo during a brief event at directorate of evaluation conference hall, here Thursday.
In his speech, Khumo congratulated the department for compiling and releasing a book much needed in the smooth functioning of the department.
He lauded the department for always having the zeal to learn new things and improve unlike other departments where progress often came to a standstill.
Khumo was optimistic that at this rate the department was on its way to more progress and achievements.
He disclosed that necessary works were put into place to launch the department even in the newly created district Noklak and that the required approvals had been obtained.
While acknowledging the department as smaller in size comparatively, however, Khumo added that it’s achievements as an important functionary should not be taken for granted.
He expressed disappointment that the department was often ignored citing its size which, he added, should not be the case since it had a good track record post its inception.
Khumo further pointed out that the department was also nearing 50 years of becoming a full-fledged department since its inception in 1973.
Meanwhile, Khumo also pointed out difficulties faced by people from his constituency due to poor network connectivity and disclosed that even this year many students could not write their exams.
He said although repeated requests were made even in the past to improve network connectivity, there was no improvement and this, he said, greatly affected the people.
Let alone other network services, people have to walk for miles in search of network to even make a simple call, Khumo added.
Earlier during the introductory speech, evaluation department, director-I Sentinuklu Jamir said the book was compiled in order to help mitigate the various problems faced by the department.
He pointed out that till in 1968, evaluation was set up as a separate unit under department of planning and coordination and later became a full-fledged department in October of 1973 through the demand no 44.
The event was chaired by joint director, A. Anden Moklong while additional director, B. Rendysowa Ao proposed the vote of thanks.
