DIMAPUR, June 15 : College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (CoVS & AH) Jalukie, a constituent college under Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal along with 13 constituent colleges and six KVKs across Northe East Region (NER) launched a community upliftment programme on the theme “agriculturally vibrant and self reliant NEH region” on June 9 and 10.
Manipur chief minister, N. Biren Singh virtually inaugurated the programme According CoVS & AH assistant professor, Dr. Imtiwati, under this programme the veterinary college, Jalukie extended benefits to more than 100 farmers of Peren and Dimapur districts.
Ginger Rhizome, fruit saplings, DOC kroiler chicks and breedable male goat were distributed to the beneficiaries. The programme was conducted under the leadership of CAU Imphal vice chancellor, Dr. Anupam Mishra.
Meanwhile, college of veterinary sciences dean, professor Arun Kumar Sangwan highlighted the keynote of the programme and extended his gratitude to all the staff of the institute for their contributions to the noble cause. It may be mentioned that the programmed was aimed at the development of fruit village, integrated farming system and spice production in Nagaland.
The programme was launched with an objective to support and uplift of farming communities in the NER during COVID-19 pandemic.
