COVID-19 pandemic: Information, activities & advisories

DIMAPUR , June 12: As Nagaland continues to fight the ongoing second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the state government, district administrations, civil society organisations and others have been carrying out various activities to sensitise the public. Various advisories and directives have been issued in the interest of the public.

Sensitisation & vaccination at Lirise, Chungtor: Sensitisation on COVID-19 vaccination cum sample collection and vaccination for 18 to 44 years age group was carried out by medical team on June 10 at Lirise and Chungtor villages under Longkhim.

A press release by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office, Tuensang stated that the medical team was led by MO CHC Longkhim Dr. Tokughu along with BPM, BAC, FWA, two GNMs, lab technician and medical attendant of CHC Longkhim.

During the visit, Dr. Tokughu highlighted the importance of COVID-19 vaccine and encouraged people to come forward to get vaccinated. He also said that total vaccination may lead to lifting partial/total COVID-19 related restrictions.

The team also conducted random sample collection for COVID-19 testing wherein around 20 samples were collected which included retest and fresh. Altogether 48 people from Lirise and Chugtor villages were vaccinated.

The programme was attended by church leaders, student leaders, government employees, village council chairman, village health chairman and staffs CHC Longkhim.

Khehovi visits Suruhuto Town: To take stock of the COVID-19 situation at Suruhuto, advisor for Tourism and Art and Culture, H. Khehovi Yepthomi visited Suruhuto town on June 10.

According to DIPR report,the advisor convened a short meeting with the Health Care and Management Committee (HCMC) members headed by SDO (C) Suruhuto, Dr.Kuzonyi Wideo, and members including senior citizens, church leaders from different denomination, STSU, MO and the PHC staff.

During the meeting, Khehovi appealed to the citizen of Suruhuto to be more vigilant and cautious of their own health as they battle with the COVID situation.

He expressed concern over the “irresponsible” attitude and behavior of the people in not following the SOPs laid down by the government even as covid positive cases are on the rise in the town. In this regard, he requested the public to act more responsible by educating one another and following the COVID laid down norms.

The advisor also highlighted the Government norms and policies for the maintenance and renovation of PHC buildings and assured to start the work at the earliest and entrusted the HCMC to oversee the works to be shortly executed.

Kehovi also thanked all the frontline workers for their selfless sacrifices and also sought the general public cooperation until the covid war is won.The advisor also donated two oxygen concentrators, one SD generator.

Tuensang DTF holds meeting: Tuensang District Task Force for COVID-19 Friday held a meeting at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Tuensang under the chairmanship of DC and chairman DTF Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant.

According to DIPR report, at the meeting the members reviewed the extended lockdown SOP for the district and decided to appeal to the house owners of those shops, which are affected by a month long closure due to lockdown, for rent consideration. The Tuensang Town Council has agreed to consider the rent of the tenants of the TTC owned shops.

The meeting decided to allow plying of the local taxis on odd and even manner but the driver must be tested for COVID, for which testing has been scheduled on June 13.

With the money generated from penalties from the defaulters of the COVID appropriate behavior, the DTF Tuensang decided to open up a bank for pulse oximeters and thermometers.

The meeting also resolved to hold a special programme and extensive drive for COVID vaccination which will cover the whole of Tuensang Town in its first phase wherein it will try to fully vaccinate Yali village on June 13.

Tuensang COVID Care Center at Government Polytechnic, Sedem was activated on June 11, and the CCC will provide proper services to all the asymptomatic COVID patients of the district without the proper facilities for home isolation.

DC Peren issues directives: Following the directive of High Power Committee (HPC), Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peren &chairman DTF, Sentiwapang Aier, has informed that the ongoing lockdown in the district has been extended till June 18.

The DC has informed that all such activities restricted/permitted as per the order shall continue to be operative with the following additional directives till further order.

According to DIPR, the DC has informed that permitted shops and business establishments shall be allowed to be open between 6 a.m. to 12 noon; regular religious services and gatherings shall continue to be suspended. However, prayer meetings and fellowships shall be allowed in religious places with not more than 20 persons with strict adherence to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour; administrative offices of schools/colleges with a core group of officers/staff shall be permitted to attend to urgent and essential matters; private business offices with a core group of officers/staff shall be permitted to attend to urgent and essential matters with the permission of the respective SDTF; no new construction workers from outside the district shall be permitted unless explicitly permitted by the DTF; inter/intra district movement of vehicles and non-essential movement of public shall continue to be restricted. However, public may obtain necessary permit for medical emergency from respective SDTF; all other issues not specified in this office orders and preceding orders shall be decided by the DTF/SDTF in consultation with the DTF.

Vaccination drive at Police Reserve: COVID-19 vaccination drive was organised by the Unit Family Welfare Friday at the Police Reserve, Supply Colony, Dimapur.

A press release by Dimapur police PRO stated that the vaccination drive was carried out in the presence of Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, RothihuTetseo with the assistance of the district medical team led by MO, Dr. Rose and in-charge UPHC Duncan Basti, Dimapur.

During the short programme, Rothihu Tetseo extended gratitude to the medical department and encouraged the families of police personnel to avail the most of the facility provided.

Further, he cautioned the gathering that while it is an individual choice to get vaccinated, however, false advocacy against the COVID-19 vaccine would amount to criminal offence.

Meriyan village bans: In order to contain the spread of COVID 19 and in response to government order dated June 2, 2021, the Meriyan village through its Hd.G.B Simon Ezung and G.B Alumo Tsopoe has informed that the village has imposed total restriction on activities such as camping and hunting in jungles, picnicking and fishing on the riverside within its area till further order. While appealing the public for cooperation, the village has cautioned stringent action against defaulters.

Tening: Ice Lined Refrigerator (ILR) and deep freezer issued by directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima was installed at Nsong Health and Wellness centre (HWC) under Tening Block Peren on June 9.
