Dimapur, May 22 (MExN): The equipment for construction of Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen generation plants have reached Phek and Tuensang on May 20.
In a tweet on Thursday, the National Health Mission Nagaland updated that the plants have capacity of generating 150 litre per minute (LPM).
The Government of Nagaland appreciates the continued support given by development partner UNDP in the health sector, especially in the fight against COVID-19, it added.
It may be noted that the equipment for plants in Phek and Tuensang are funded under a joint collaboration of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Government of Japan. Under the collaboration, eight PSA oxygen generation plants are being installed in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura.
Nagaland got its first PSA oxygen generation plant with the capacity of 300 LPM at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima on May 17.
The plant at NHAK is among the three being installed in Nagaland under the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation (PM CARES) Funds. The other two at district hospitals of Dimapur and Mokokchung are currently under construction.
State Health Minister S Pangnyu in May 15 updated that the installation process at Mokokchung DH is expected to completed “within three days” while the department has sent for certification to Delhi for Dimapur.
Apart from five plants, six other plants (100-150 LPM) funded under the UNICEF (United Children’s Fund) will be installed in the rest of the districts.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Phek Razouvolie Dozo, DC Phek, along with other officers visited the ongoing construction of PSA Oxygen Plant, at District Hospital, Phek to ensure its timely completion on May 17.
It is to be noted that while the equipment for the plants are provided by the concerned donators, civil works and other expenses are borne by the State government.
