All residents directed to observe COVID-19 appropriate behaviour

Following the imposition of restriction on movement and activities by the Nagaland government, the streets of the State capital Kohima wore a deserted look while other normal activities were also affected starting May 5.

The seven-day restriction on movement and activities started from 7:00 pm of May 5.

The State government has declared most areas in Dimapur and Kohima as containment zones in view of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the State.

In Kohima, most of the commercial establishments downed shutters and less number of vehicular movement and public on the streets was witnessed on Thursday.

Meanwhile, all residents of the Containment Zones have been directed to observe COVID-19 appropriate behaviour and avoid non-essential movements.

All the permitted activities are to be observed with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols and SOPs, an order received here stated.

The order issued by Kohima Deputy Commissioner cautioned that any person violating the order will be liable to be prosecuted against as per the relevant section of the Disaster Management Act 2005, besides actions under section 188 of IPC and other legal provisions as applicable.

Meanwhile, night curfew has also been imposed in Kohima district from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am from May 5 onwards.
