GHS Satoi plagued by shortage of graduate teachers

Zunheboto, April 25 (MExN): In its continuous effort to crackdown on proxy teachers, the Satoi Range GB Association carried out a combined education tour and visited all eleven Government primary schools within eleven villages under Satoi area in Satakha sub division of Zunheboto district.

The Satoi Range GB Association in a press release issued by its President, Kaito Zhimo and General Secretary, Kakheto Aye said that the tour has been initiated to get “ground report” and address the grievances of student community.

The team also physically inspected Primary Health Centre, Satoi and four sub centres at Itovi, Ghokhevi. They visited also Hokiye and Thakiye village with Satoi Range Students Union and Satoi administration on April 19 and 20 and interacted with the village council, GBs, teachers, Village Education Committee (VEC) and public.

On April 20, a combined education our team visited Government High School (GHS), Satoi and interacted with the teachers and staffs and took note of the grievances of the students.

Following the tour and interaction, the Satoi Range GB Association observed that GHS, Satoi is facing a shortage of graduate teachers and currently there are only four graduate teachers, five primary teachers and three Hindi teachers.

The teaching staffs are posted at GHS, Satoi without head master since September 2019. The school also does not have the assistant head master incharge since 2016. After they have been transferred, no new replacements have been posted till now. There is also no science since 2017, it reported.

“Till today, it is also unfortunate to mentioned that more than eight graduate teachers have been transferred with post and recently during 2017-18 four graduate teachers were also been transferred with post and no replacement has been appointed at GHS, Satoi which has resulted the shortage of teachers,” it stated.

On inquiry by the combined education tour team, it was informed that minimum two general graduate teachers and one math and science teachers along with the head master should be posted as an urgent requirements for teaching faculty in the interest of the students’ community.

This is necessary “as the present strength of graduate teachers is very difficult to cope up with all the major subjects informed by one of the teacher during the inspection,” the Association noted.

It has also observed that due to shortage of graduate teachers at GHS, Satoi, people in the region are not willing to seek admission in the Government High School. “This is also the main factor behind the poor enrollment of students and nil results in the last HSLC exam 2020.” It alleged.

The Association further said that GHS Satoi was upgraded in 1993 as Government high School and in the year 1998, it was upgraded till matriculation into full strength as high school. However, the teaching staff and students are also facing basic necessity requirements of staff government quarters and other infrastructural development which need immediate attention.

It also stated that the Association “will not entertain any transfer with post under Satoi area unless it is necessary for only genuine cases” and appealed all the teachers in the region to be regularly posted in their respective posting.

Further, it issued as caution that the Association will carried out surprise checking from time to time in the eleven villages and if any teachers found indulging in the proxy, their names would be submitted to the higher authority for immediate action in the interest of the students community and to encourage quality education.

The tour team also inspected Primary Health Centre (PHC), Satoi and four sub-centres under Satoi.

During their visit at PHC, Satoi they interacted with doctors and staff. The team urged the concerned medical officer and medical staff to report the shortage of medical requirements at PHC and other four sub-centres every month to CMO, Zunheboto.

The Satoi Range GB Association officials led by its President, Kaito Zhimo and General Secretary, Kakheto Aye also received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
