Isolated thunderstorms, gusty winds in Nagaland & NE region till April 20: IMD

Thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds are very likely in isolated places in Nagaland and other North East states during this week till April 20, informed a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department Thursday evening.

“Thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during April 15-20,” stated the IMD’s All India Weather Summary and Forecast Bulletin.

On Thursday morning, Nagaland witnessed heavy bout of rainfall including hailstorm in isolated places.

Meanwhile, the IMD further forecasted that there is possibility of isolated heavy falls over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam and Meghalaya during April 17-20 period, it said.

Under the influence of moisture feed from Bay of Bengal in lower tropospheric levels; rainfall activity over Northeast India is very likely to increase from April 17, added the national weather forecasting agency.

In its detailed day wise analysis, the IMD forecasted “thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) at isolated places in Nagaland on April 16-19.
