Dimapur, March 18 (MExN): Several districts in the State observed the Poshan Pakhwada (Nutrition fortnight) with various activities to mark the celebration.
In Kohima, CDPO Chiephobozou Block organized a Poshan rally on March 18 with the participation of all Anganwadi workers to create awareness on the nutrition mission and its importance on children, lactating mother and adolescent child.
The key focus of Rashtriya Poshan Pakhwada 2021 is food forestry and Poshan Panchayat. Recognizing the importance of nutrition and participation of community towards the mission are the gateway to achieve a malnourishment-free State, the CDPO’s office informed in a press release on Thursday.
The keynote address was delivered by Dzüziengulie Terhüja, CDPO Chiephobozou.
Poshan Kohima District Coordinator Sohile Tep also spoke on the importance of food forestry and the importance of preservation of wild plants, trees and fruits that is of nutritional value. She also highlighted the new Poshan tracker app that Anganwadi workers should work on to register the beneficiaries of their catchment area with accuracy.
The convergence department from NRLM also took part in the event.
Area Coordinator, Keviselhou Chadi spoke on the importance of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP) which provides self-employment opportunities with financial assistance and training in business management.
Block Coordinator Keduvito Luho highlighted the events that need to be conducted at the fortnight Poshan celebration at block and village level.
The programme culminated with the Poshan rally and new SIM cards were distributed to all the Anganwadi workers, the release added.
Mon: In Mon, the Department of Social Welfare Mon organised the launch of ‘Poshan Pakhwada and Plantation of Medicinal Plants’ at Mission Compound, Mon on March 16.
Poshan Pakhwada will be celebrated across the district from March 16 to 31 in collaboration with convergent departments which includes district administration, H&FW, RD- NRLM, PHE and AYUSH, a DIPR report informed.
The programme was launched by SDO (Civil) Mon, Ilika Zhimomi. In her address, she appealed to all the stakeholders to coordinate and work for the success of the mission.
DPO (ICDS) Mon, Tauhong Ngonyen reminded the staff and officers about the responsibility that they hold and urged them to work sincerely for the success of the mission. He stated that the target beneficiaries for Poshan Pakhwada was 90,000 for Mon district.
The event was chaired by Supervisor, Phomching Project Ngonying and vote of thanks was delivered by CDPO Tizit, Chubatula Pongener.
Tuensang: The Social Welfare Department (ICDS) Tuensang on account of Poshan Pakhwada 2021, conducted an Anemia Screening Camp for adolescent girls at Government High School Hakushang on March 18.
In the camp, Thungpang highlighted about Poshan Pakhwada while Tsungrenla Jamir, Drugs Inspector and Dr Mongko Chang MO (RBSK) spoke on the topic ‘Anaemia’. A total of 195 adolescent girls were screened at the camp.
Dimapur: SDO (C) Thejavizo Nakhro with CDPO (Rural) Dimapur Bonathung Ngullie and ICDS staff launched Poshan Pakhwada celebration and planted medicinal saplings at AWCs on March 16.
