Justifies demand for 45% job reservation

DIMAPUR, MARCH 5 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students Federation (ENSF) today presented a ‘gap analysis’ of government sector employment of eastern Nagas with the rest of Nagas in the State. Based on this, the federation stated that its demand for 45% job reservation is justified.

With 1,21694 government employees in the State, the ENSF said that the number of eastern Naga employees in all grades and classes barely cross 15%’.

It broke down the percentage of eastern Naga employees as follows: Grade A (11.03%), Grade B (11.47%), Grade C (15.67%), and Grade D (11.50%). The ENSF also provided a break up of government establishments in the Eastern Nagaland areas as compared to the rest of the State. (See table)

A press release from the ENSF stated that the analysis shows that “our job reservation policy has been suppressed, our development has been denied.”

“In Nagaland to meet our own rights and shares, the people of Eastern Nagaland have to struggle or for that matter agitate. Our fundamental right to have equal share with the other Naga brethren has been denied since the inception of the full fledged State of Nagaland,” it claimed.

It therefore said that the federation is justified in its demand for 45% job reservation.

“It may be known to all that the federation is demanding what is rightfully ours and not from someone else’s share,” the ENSF said.
