Kohima, February 14 (MExN): The second dose of COVID-19 vaccination for health care workers (HCWs) started on February 14 in Nagaland at NHAK, Kohima and District Hospital, Tuensang for beneficiaries who have completed 28 days after receipt of the first dose.
State Immunization Officer (SIO) Dr Ritu Thurr informed that 123 healthcare workers, 78 in Kohima and 45 in Tuensang, were vaccinated with the second dose led by senior doctors and nurses in the two hospitals with a turnout of 96%.
“These 123 Healthcare workers have successfully completed the full dose and was provided COVID-19 vaccination certificate,” the SIO informed.
No adverse events needing medical intervention was reported, he added.
In Kohima, Managing Director, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), Dr Thorsie Katiry along with other 77 Health Care Workers (HCWs) received the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine at NHAK on February 14.
Eleven more HCWs also received the first dose of COVID-19 Vaccine on the same day at NHAK taking the total to 1,298 HCWs and 1255 number of Front Line Workers vaccinated in 47 session sites till date, a DIPR report informed.
District Immunization Officer Kohima Dr Rupert Peseyie informed that on February 15, vaccination will be carried out at IGAR HQ, 14 AR Tsiesema, 78 BN CRPF Sechü, 93 BN BSF Chedema, Jakhama army camp, Seikhazou UPHC and 4th NAP Thizama.
Sensitization programme on COVID-19 Vaccine for All police units will be held at Chiephobozou block on February 16 and SP’s Conference Hall Kohima on February 17.
It was also informed that till date, 11,601 doses have been administered in 11 districts in the State (1st Dose-11,478 + 2nd Dose-123).
6 new cases, 9 recoveries on Feb 14
Meanwhile, 6 new COVID-19 cases were detected in the State capital Kohima on Sunday, taking the tally of positive cases to 12,189.
According to the Nagaland COVID-19 bulletin, all 6 cases on Sunday were traced contacts.
State Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom also informed that 9 patients recovered from the infection on February 14.
Till date, the State has registered 11,877 recoveries while the number of active cases is 73.
